WhatsApp has strict rules for messages that businesses send. NeetoCal follows these rules, which is why WhatsApp works a little differently from email and SMS.
Messages need consent
WhatsApp only allows business messages to people who have agreed to get them. NeetoCal never sends a WhatsApp message to a number that hasn't given consent.
Hosts give consent in Host › Self › WhatsApp notifications for host. An admin can choose updates for a host but can't give consent for them.
Clients give consent by ticking the WhatsApp box on the booking form.
NeetoCal saves the exact consent text each person agreed to, along with their number and the time they agreed.
Consent is tied to a phone number
Consent applies to one specific number. If a host changes the phone number in their profile, their consent is withdrawn and WhatsApp messages pause until they agree again for the new number.
Message templates can't be edited
Every WhatsApp message NeetoCal sends uses a template that WhatsApp has reviewed and approved in advance. This is why you can't change the wording the way you can with email and SMS templates. NeetoCal fills in the meeting details, such as the meeting name, time, and host, and the rest of the text stays the same.
To see what each message looks like, click Preview on any WhatsApp notifications or reminders page.
How to stop getting WhatsApp messages
Hosts: untick the consent box or the updates in WhatsApp notifications for host, then save.
Clients: leave the consent box unticked when booking. Clients who want to stop later can contact the workspace.
Phone numbers
Messages go to numbers in the international format with the country code, for example +1 555 123 4567. Make sure the phone numbers in host profiles and on booking forms include the country code.
